Direction Home encourages open discussion and active participation in the Family Caregiver Support group but strongly suggests that the participants do not share any confidential or identifying information with the group. Any shared information with the participants may be redisclosed by the participants as the participants may not be subject to the state and federal confidentiality and privacy laws including, but not limited to, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). Therefore, any information disclosed during your participation in the support group may be redisclosed by the participants in the group without any obligation of confidentiality to you.
Direction Home will take all measures to maintain security and privacy of information that you share with Direction Home. Direction Home will not share any identifying or confidential information with you or participants in the group; therefore, Direction Home will not encrypt emails it sends to the participants. However, please be alerted that your replies to Direction Home or other participants’ emails will be likewise unencrypted. As stated above, Direction Home urges you to limit confidential or identifying information that you communicate with the group, which also includes email. Direction Home will mask email addresses of the participants. Please be alerted that “Reply All” to Direction Home emails will disclose your email address to others in the email group.
Your email address or other contact information will not be made available to other participants by Direction Home unless you explicitly request that we share your information with the group or a specific participant. Please note that we do not require that you share your name, email or any other identifying information when you use Zoom, or any other virtual platform application used for conducting the meetings. It is at your discretion to share your name, or any other contact information with the group, when logging in to the meeting platform/s.
