Important in any caring profession is ensuring a full continuum of care through treatment planning and case management.  Participants learn how to provide continuity of care beyond providing counseling services.  Case management is discussed and practiced through case vignettes to emphasize the importance in assuring clients get the most effective care.   

Objectives:

  • Understand the importance of providing a continuum of care
  • Learn about models of treatment planning and coordinating care
  • Learn and discuss principles and interventions of case management
  • Gain awareness of how to adapt strategies to individual needs
  • Practice care coordination and treatment planning through case vignettes

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction is a blend of meditation, awareness, and yoga that has become an evidence based practice to treat a variety of conditions.  This training provides a foundational understanding of MBSR that can be used both professionally and personally.  Multiple mindfulness skills will be introduced and practiced.  An emphasis will be placed on how to incorporate MBSR as part of an important self-care regimen. 

Objectives:

  • Understand mindfulness and the 7 attitudes of mindfulness practice
  • Learn about the emergence of MBSR as an evidence-based practice through scientific research
  • Learn and practice basic mindfulness skills, and understand how to integrate practice into professional and personal practice
  • Reinforce the importance of self-care, and apply MBSR as a tool to engage in self-renewal

About the Speaker: Steven Kerestes, LPCC-S, LICDC

Steve is a coordinator of the School Based Mental Health team at CommQuest Services, Internship Coordinator and trainer for Pyramid Services. He also serves as an adjunct professor for Motivational Interviewing at Walsh University. Prior, he was lead counselor at the Smith House, a residential treatment center for adolescents with substance abuse and mental health problems. He specializes in teaching social responsibility to clients. A graduate of the University of Akron, he has received extensive training in Motivational Interviewing as well as in problem gambling counseling. He shows great passion in his work with clients as well as in supervision, training, and program development. He takes a creative approach to counseling and is a dynamic and engaging speaker.

REGISTRATION & CANCELLATION INFORMATION:

Class sizes are limited, so register early.  Classes with low registrations may be canceled.  If the class is canceled or moved, participants will be contacted via email at least 24 hours in advance.

Classes start and end on time.  To ensure a quality experience for all, please arrive (in-person) at least 15 minutes prior to the class start time.  

SOCIAL WORKERS: CEU credits will be adjusted 0.25 credit hours for every 15 minutes not in attendance; adjusted certificates will be emailed to participants within 3 business days after the training.  LICENSED NURSING HOME ADMINISTRATORS: full participation is expected, no partial credit will be awarded. Hard copies of certificates will be mailed upon request.

Refunds will be make ONLY for cancellations received three business days prior to the event. If received less than three days prior to the event, a credit can be issued for use at another program within the next 6 months. If notice of cancellation is not received before the date of the program, no refund will be issued. PLEASE NOTE: No show will be charged the full registration fee.

It is difficult to control room temperature to everyone's comfort level.  We suggest you dress in layers that can be adaptable to warm and cool temperatures.

For auditing purposes, arrival and departure times and signature are required on attendance sheets.
