Developed in 1999, the Direction Home Akron Canton Foundation believes that all older adults, regardless of income, deserve to achieve their long-term care goals. We assist in part through the Care Coordination program, as well as through our dedicated advocacy for public policy change.
In Ohio, 77 out of 88 counties have Senior Service Levies to aid in expanding services to older adults. However, none of the four counties Direction Home Akron Canton serves (Portage, Stark, Summit and Wayne) benefits from the funding of a Senior Service Levy. A large percentage of the Foundation's funds go directly toward advocacy for older adults and their well-being, including Senior Service Levy efforts.
Annual Foundation Raffle
Each year the Foundation Raffle raises over $150,000. 100% of the proceeds go to advocacy efforts geared toward influencing public policy for the betterment of the lives of older adults. We purchase the prizes with points earned on the Agency credit cards or collect them as generous donations.

Official Rules and Regulations
1. Each raffle ticket shall constitute a separate and equal chance to win with all tickets sold or issued.
2. The price per ticket is $50 or 5 for $200, payable by cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, American
Express, Discover or Money Order.
3. Drawing date is November 14, 2024. Winning tickets will be drawn and prizes awarded in
ascending order ending with the grand prize.
4. Winners need not be present to win. Winners will be notified after the drawing date.
5. Checks will be deposited upon receipt. Checks or credit cards that are declined or returned for
insufficient funds or other reasons will disqualify the ticket purchased by such check or credit card.
6. All prizes are subject to, and the winners are fully responsible for, all federal, state and local income
taxes. Direction Home Akron Canton Foundation has no responsibility for payment of any taxes
associated with the prizes (except for the responsibility to comply with the withholding regulations
and reporting requirements of taxing authorities involved). Other restrictions may apply.
7. Prize(s) unclaimed by verified winner(s) by December 31, 2024 will be forfeited.
8. Trip(s) must be planned by June 30, 2025 and taken by December 30, 2025 or prize will be
forfeited.
9. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Foundation reserves the right to substitute a prize of
equal or greater value.
10. Winners of any travel must schedule trips 45 days in advance and will be responsible for any fees
that may apply. The Grand prize winner may pick their destination in the U.S., Canada,
Caribbean or Mexico (up to $5,000 value). The First prize winner may pick their
destination in the U.S. or Mexico (up to $4,000 value). Trips must be one destination with
consecutive nights. Prizes which include airfare will receive economy/coach class seats.

11. All Gift Card Winners may select their choice of gift card from Target, Amazon, Best Buy or
Home Depot.
12. The ticket stub, cancelled check or credit card statement is the purchaser’s receipt.
13. The CEO, COO and CFO of Direction Home Akron Canton are ineligible to win as well as
Foundation employees.
14. Direction Home Akron Canton Foundation is not responsible for ticket purchasers who do not
receive the rules and regulations.
